English as Second Language:At St. Joseph, teaching English is a coordinated effort. Our ESL instructors enrich the hard work of classroom teachers. Title I offers ESL support twice a week and after-school instruction is provided for those in special need. Everyone works to ensure proficiency and confidence for students confronting a new language. Technology: Our state-of-the-art computer lab includes a scanner, color printers, Internet access and cutting edge software. The classrooms and library are also outfitted with high-tech terminals connected to the Internet. The computer teacher ensures that students utilize these facilities for research, writing papers and supplemental assignments. Physical Education: Our new playground provides a safe area for the young students to learn from our Physical Education teacher. Art, Music and Drama: In addition to instruction from our art and music teachers, our students enjoy special programs in musical expression and drama.
