A Brief History

St. Joseph School was founded in 1926. Throughout the 80 years of service to the community, the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus have staffed and run the school. St. Joseph was founded to serve the largely Italian-American immigrant population living in the area. The school has witnessed great changes in the surrounding population, as it has shifted away from Italian and Jewish to Asian, Latino and African American. The mission of the school has remained the same: to offer academic, moral and spiritual education to children who need us. Immigrants, the children of immigrants and their children's children still come to St. Joseph School and find a home.
